In her Threshold project, Christine Carr investigates color reality by testing its transformative qualities. She seeks out ambiguous spaces dominated by shape and pattern instead of scale or horizon, and she deliberately abstracts these images by using a wide-angle lens, a long exposure, and a mix of natural and artificial light. Carr aims to “heighten the transfiguration” of space and color, and for the “point in which the images have become otherworldly, rather than referencing the known environment.”
